Renovation of toilet in High Court catering to differently-abled and transgender persons

The Hon’ble Apex Court in case of Rajive Raturi Vs. Union of India in Writ Petition (Civil) No.243 of 2005 issued guidelines for formation of Accessibility Committee for enhancing physical and functional accessibility for persons with disability. In compliance with the said guidelines, a toilet located at the ground floor of the New Building of the High Court was renovated on 17th April, 2024, meant for differently-abled and transgender persons by promoting social inclusion, access to hygiene and dignity.

Inauguration of e-filing centre of High Court of Orissa

The e-filing centre in the High Court premises was inaugurated by the Chief Justice, in presence of the companion Judges on 05th July, 2024. In the e-filing Centre case filing process has been digitized in order to facilitate easy and hassle free filing of cases with a vision for taking a step towards “Paperless Courts” as envisioned by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.

Inauguration of cafeteria at Museum of Justice

The Chief Justice, in presence of the companion Judges, inaugurated the Cafeteria in the Museum of Justice inside Killa Fort, Cuttack on 26thJuly, 2024 on the foundation the High Court of Orissa in order to provide delicious food to the visitors who are visiting the Museum of Justice.

Construction and renovation of E-Type and F-Type Quarters for High Court Staff

There are existing 93 E-Type staff quarters out of which 22 quarters were renovated. The Roads & Building Division-1, Cuttack handed over 12 newly constructed E-Type quarters to the High Court on 06th August, 2024.

Similarly, there are existing 28 F-Type Group-D staff quarters out of which 15 nos. of vacant quarters were renovated. The R & B Division-1 Cuttack handed over 6 newly constructed F-Type quarters to the High Court on 06th August, 2024. The keys of 18 F-Type quarters were handed over by the High Court to the Group-D staff on 30th August, 2024. The staff occupied the same and are residing there.

Inauguration of Gymnasium at Court Guest House Complex

The Chief Justice in presence of the companion Judges inaugurated the Gymnasium at the High Court Guest House Complex on 16th November, 2024 to provide physical exercise facilities to the dignitaries during their visit to the Guest House.

“Bhoomi Puja” for construction of Staff quarters

“Bhoomi Puja” for commencement of construction of 550 nos. of flats of staff quarters was performed at Sector-13, CDA, Cuttack on 11th December, 2024 by the Chief Justice in presence of Companion Judges of the High Court.

“Bhoomi Puja” for Construction of High Court Annex Building

The “Bhoomi Puja” for commencement of construction of New Annex Building (B+G+5) in the premises of the High Court was performed on 11th December, 2024 by the Chief Justice in presence of Companion Judges of the High Court, President and Office bearers of the High Court Bar Association, Senior Advocates and members of the High Court Bar Association.

Renovation and remodeling of Judges’ Library

The Judges’ Library is functioning in the Old Court building. With the passage of time, space created for keeping books became inadequate for which it became indispensable to redesign the library to get more space. The existing space where library is functioning, was redesigned with new model having all facilities, which provides adequate space for keeping books. The Chief Justice in presence of other companion judges, former judges, members of the Bar Association, Advocate General of Odisha, Deputy Solicitor General for High Court of Orissa and senior advocates inaugurated the refurbished Judges’ Library on 23rd December, 2024.
