From the desk of the Chief Justice

To write a message for significant accomplishments and achievements in the past year when I adorned the position of a Chief Justice on 26th March 2025, is a daunting task, yet the Draft Annual Report 2024 forwarded to me containing the dissemination of resolute efforts to uphold the justice gives me a sense of courage and confidence to write few words with the sense of pride.

The edifice of justice delivery system is reassurance of commitment towards upholding the justice and reposition of trust and faith in such system. The Annual Report 2024 is the repository of the success and the challenges, which the system encountered to the adversities with the pledge to improve in the next year. The disparity between the institution of cases and the disposal in time-bound manner is an aspiration of the citizenry reposing trust in the system. The infrastructure facilities were improved in the last year to enhance the efficiency of the stakeholders of the judicial system but the disposal of the cases vis-à-vis the institution of the cases showed a remarkable disparity. The judges manning the High Court resolutely worked with their potentials and, therefore, the disposal rate is perceived to give succor with a further commitment to improve the data in the coming years. The epitome of justice fosters the access of justice as a primary obligation. The spreading of awareness on the legal rights is concomitant to an access to justice to the beneficiaries or seekers thereof.

The last year was an eventful year where several seminars, discourse and symposiums were organized at a grass root level to inculcate the legal rights and the remedy to the people of the State. The collation of the statistical data after empirical studies reassures the commitment to achieve better. The land mark judgments delivered by the eminent jurists adorning the Bench conveys their unwavering and tirelessly discharge of the solemn duties reiterating their oath to the office.

There are many milestones to achieve, many icebergs to break and I hope and trust that this year would be a remarkable year of achievements to reshaping the system with an avowed object of promoting the access to justice and the justice delivery system.

I once again congratulate the Committee for releasing the Annual Report 2024 with the profound belief that it would continue for all time to come.
